The SISTAHS Ministry and SISTAH Teen Mentoring Initiative Act as Catalysts of a Life-Changing Experience for Victims of Domestic Violence, At-Risk Teens, Teen Mothers and The Homeless Community

Redford, MI - August 4, 2010 - The SISTAHS Ministry International will host the Third Annual SISTAHS Embracing the Elevation Conference on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at The Embassy Suites Hotel Detroit-Southfield from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Through uniting women and teenage girls to impact their world, The SISTAHS Ministry and SISTAH Teen Mentoring Initiative seek to empower the lives of beneficiary attendees from Detroit community non-profit organizations, such as Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (S.A.F.E.), Genesis House I, Genesis House II, Women In Touch, and C.O.T.S.

Past beneficiaries in 2008 and 2009 have been S.A.F.E., Helping Individuals Succeed (H.I.S.) Agency, The Salvation Army Edwin Denby Center and Women In Touch. The Conference is funded by donations from various business owners, churches and individual paid registrations.

About the SISTAHS Embracing the Elevation Conference

This life-changing experience includes an inspirational service, workshops, a pampering party offering manicure, pedicure and massage services, as well as one hotel night stay free of charge. Beneficiaries of the Conference are placed in a raffle for back-to-school supplies, baby packs and donated gifts.

This year's Conference will feature Guest Speaker, Eldress Kim James from Great Faith Ministries International of Detroit, Michigan and include workshops some of the best workshops such as, "I Need a Healing For My Soul" and "How to Maintain Your Immune System in the Season of Change," among others.

About The S.I.S.T.A.H.S. Ministry

The S.I.S.T.A.H.S. Ministry began in August, 2006 in Michigan and now has four other State Chapters (Massachusetts, New York, Nevada, and Pennsylvania). As of October, 2008 the enlightening force of God's Word through The SISTAHS Ministry was enlarged internationally into Torino, Italy and Nigeria, Africa and in June, 2009 the Hebron Prayer Church of India commenced their chapter of The SISTAHS Ministry under the covering of Pastor Joshua Gona.

The money we raise goes strictly toward the Conference, and this year we expect to host 100 women and teen girls who have been victims of domestic violence, are in a homeless situation, and teen mothers who have been placed in foster care. With your donation, we will be able to provide this Conference for free to the clients of the participating nonprofit organizations listed above as well as free Back-to-School packages to all teenage girls in attendance. Based on your level of support, we will provide various marketing avenues and exposure about you and your services in various ways.

I’m just doing me
Although people don’t want to see
What the Lord has birthed in me
Is what He has destined for me to be
I’m going to run with the tasks at hand
Knowing the Lord will allow me to possess the land
It’s not all easy because haters just don’t want to see
What the Lord has birthed in me
I’m encouraging myself in the midst of frustration
A peaceful existence with some hesitation
Because this isn’t a performance, although some think it to be
People just don’t understand, I’m just doing me

Okay, so now you are frustrated to know that you can’t just give birth to a new blessing, you must have plan, so there’s more work to do. Not only that, but you have more waiting to do with regard to the visions, dreams and promises the Lord has given you, even after you have a plan. So, NOW WHAT? It’s very simple. It’s time for the “Do You” stage!

Have you ever experienced the peaceful existence of just doing you? Some may take it as a life of having nothing to do but work, church, school and sitting at home, but if you think about it, it’s a peaceful existence without drama. It’s God’s favor at work.

Some people are just not happy unless there is a bunch of havoc around them. It makes them feel like they actually exist. Ever thought about doing things quietly and peacefully? Have you ever thought about living life quietly and peacefully? Have you ever thought about living life with just a surety of peacefulness and intimacy with the Lord?

Matthew 6:18 (KJV) says:

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Life does not have to be a performance. When you practice the “Do You” method, practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God and don’t make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won’t make you a saint. If you “Do You” and go into training inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, and wash your face. God doesn’t require attention-getting devices. He won’t overlook what you are doing; He’ll reward you well.

Here’s what you do in the “Do You” stage: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense His grace.

Where's My Stuff?

Economic plight
But trying to stay in the fight
When will God’s favor reign supreme?
Even enemies and haters are living their dream
I’m just Facing A Victorious Opportunity Realistically
Because I’m tired of waiting and just may drastically
Move to the fast lane and get the stuff I want
Victory inevitable, but enemies want to flaunt
Their successes in my face while I continue to wait
I think I’ll decide my own fate
I might get some counterfeits along the way
But, at least, I won’t be in dismay
Where’s my stuff? The desires of my heart
Waiting makes me want to depart
Lord, I hear you say, be still my child
But I’m tired of being meek and mild
People treat it with disrespect, the devil running free
I’m ready to get back all those things the devil stole from me
Is favor really surrounding me?

THE ANSWER

God will surround you with favor as a shield. You need a shield for protection. Favor will protect you from the gossip and criticism of others. When they try to malign you, favor can protect you from the ill effects of their malicious words. This shield of favor will not just protect you from the front but also the rear. It is a shield that surrounds you. Even when you don’t know what people are saying about you, this divine favor will insulate you from damage.

What’s in the fast lane? Anything you want and desire. That’s the catch here, sisters. Satan will give you those things you want, but guess what, they are counterfeits. As fast as you get them, they will be gone.

Psalms 37 of The Message Translation says:

1 -2 Don't bother your head with braggarts or wish you could succeed like the wicked. In no time they'll shrivel like grass clippings and wilt like cut flowers in the sun.

3 -4 Get insurance with God and do a good deed, settle down and stick to your last. Keep company with God, get in on the best.

5 -6 Open up before God, keep nothing back; he'll do whatever needs to be done: He'll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon.

He will bless you with the desires of your heart, my sister, just wait on God’s favor to reign supreme in your life. Sisters, we must do well for our own souls and we will see no reason to envy those that will do anything to get what they want. Look at the source of what they are obtaining by evil means. You must grow on Destiny’s Road to making God your hope in the way of duty and then you will have a comfortable subsistence in this world. You should rely on God, His favor, His providence, His promises, and His grace. It is during this time of waiting and entering onto Favor Street that God will become your guide and you can leave all your cares and worries to His guidance and disposal.

Broken Promises, But Perfect Timing

Tell me, Lord, have Your promises dissipated?
I’ve been on this road, but the road appears elongated
The trials are many, the tribulations seem insurmountable
But, from experience, I know You’re fully capable
To bring me out and allow me to live
In the depths of Your promises, I know You will give
Me the patience I need to continue on this road
You will ease my burden and lighten my load
So, Lord, here I am, waiting again
For Your will to take hold of my life
For the manifestation of promises, instead of strife
The bigger the trial, the bigger the blessing
Victory is eminent, I am confessing
Your glory to be revealed through the experiences You give me
Satan, you don’t have any power, in Jesus’ Name, you must flee!

II Peter 3:9 (KJV) says:

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Okay, so again, you have to wait and again you start to wonder, “Is this the right road? Maybe I should have gone to the left at the fork in the road about 5 miles back.” Don’t doubt it, sisters; you are on the right road. You must remember that the devil comes to steal, kill and to destroy.

He will do everything he can to make you doubt the birth of your new blessing, as well as the visions and dreams the Lord has given you.

Stumbling blocks, yes they happen.

Drama, yes it happens.

Job changes, yes it can happen.

Relationship changes, yes it may happen.

Financial difficulties, yes it’s a possibility to happen.

Just remember all the promises of the Word and stand on those promises. The “waiting game” should be called the “frustration game” because it is during this time that you can become frustrated and discouraged at the progress which appears to not be happening. Just because there appears to be nothing happening does not mean that nothing is! If you cast your cares on God, He will handle your worries. While you are yet asleep He is fighting for you. When you are waiting to see the manifestation of God’s promises to you, you must realize that this is still a part of maturing.

About what she’s doing and who she thinks she is
Nobody’s blessed anyway, because even God is
Shutting her down, her life is a mess
You see, she’s lonely, no friends to protest
To what I’m telling you about that sister over there
Through her downfall, I see life as being pretty fair

A woman who can confess this in her heart has not graduated in her life to concentrating on her own destiny. When we are focused on our own life and what God has so designed for us, we don’t have time to meditate on the successes of another and, in our own mind, undermine those successes.

Without the ability to visualize worthy goals and how these can be realized, very little of importance is achieved. When we are in the Lord’s will on Destiny’s Road, we desperately need an elevated vision of what it is all about. On Destiny’s Road, we are aware of our visions, dreams and promises, however, Destiny’s Road is filled with much adventure that can become discouraging.

No vision, dream or promise has ever been achieved except by one who dares to put their faith to work. Perhaps, we are hindered by our past experiences, or perhaps we have been fed a steady diet of defeatism. Your vision needs boldness based on faith in God. Your vision needs persistence, not losing heart and faith, for we shall reap in due season, always abounding knowing that our labor is not in vain.

Destiny’s Road can be encumbered with decisions in direction, because the Lord does give us a free will in how we handle what He bestows upon our lives. He blesses us to birth visions, dreams and promises.

Write the vision! Write those divine revelations the Lord has given you and make your request known unto the Lord who will give you perfect peace when you keep your mind stayed on Him. Imprint the vision in your mind!

I am so delighted to have with me today a woman full of integrity, strength, character and determination. I've watched her for the past year or so and I know that she is who she claims to be. I present the lady of the day, Minister Celeste Kelley!

~ Hello Celeste. Tell us a little about yourself.

Hello, thanks for this opportunity. Well, what can I say... you know I ask people this question all the time, but when it's time to talk about myself all I can say is I'm what God has made me to be. He allowed me to mother a son at the age of 16 at a time when teenage pregnancy was on the rise and I was "suppose to" become a statistic. However, since that time, He has allowed me to live in my most-desired career in the legal profession, He has blessed me musically to be Minister of Music for prominent churches in Detroit, Michigan, get my Paralegal degree, my Bible Diploma, author two (2) books which was the start of the journalistic ministry He gave me (The "Sister Girl..." Series), write songs to accompany the second book of the series, co-found a Women's Ministry (The SISTAHS Ministry), host a radio show and lastly, but certainly not least, preach the Gospel. It is in Him and through Him that I have my being.

~ Tell us about your radio program and how that came about.

Write The Vision Radio Show is an extension of the second book of The "Sister Girl..." Series (And The Sisters Said, "Amen!") and it is Title Track for the Chapter Compilation that accompanies that particular book. It was birthed out of a walk of obedience to God, TOTALLY. I never dreamed and aspired to do what I am doing in my life right now, being a preacher, an author or a radio show host. I was blessed and gifted at an early age musicially, so I always saw myself playing for a mega-church. I was standing in the TV studio of WHPR waiting to be interviewed by Pastor Ovella Davis when I heard the commercial for radio spots available and I went for it... that's where the story begins, but I still don't know the ending because God is yet blessing.

~ As a minister, what one thing would you pour into women today?

SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER AND STAY HUMBLE! There is so much hateration going on in this world and humility takes a back seat when so many are blessed with the least bit of notariety, popularity and fame. Some tend to forget that they had to start somewhere, and they weren't the first to blaze the way... they are walking on the trail the Lord blazed through someone else so that they could have the opportunity to go down that same road. Show yourself friendly... remember, in order to have friends you must show yourself friendly. I would also like to share with women to keep their focus on God: Single women looking for your husband - there are things the Lord wants to bless you with first, and some things He wants from you as well. While you're busy working, your husband will find you - just continue the work! Married women - don't allow your husband to hold you back from the things the Lord has impregnated you with. In those difficult times and places of marriage, it is encumbent upon you to stay in God's face in order that you may fulfill His purpose for your life in the midst of what may be a hard marriage.

~ In ministry, what issue do you find yourself dealing with most often?

Acceptance. Jealousy. These two things have been existent in my life for so long, it's a way of living for me. When the Lord blesses one to be multi-gifted and talented, people tend to say "What now?" I almost feel like not saying anything when the Lord blesses me to move higher in a lot of things, but again, I am everything He made me to be and I don't know why He chose me to bless, but I'm glad He did!

~ What challenges have you faced being a woman in ministry?

Women in ministry catch it! We have to work to gain the acceptability of everyone around us - from family to friends to people on the street. Amazingly enough, however, when a man says he's been called into preaching ministry no one says an utter word - however, he could have only said that because it's a desire he has, believing it's glamorous and he can "pull some women" from the pulpit. I am very passionate about this because God has called both men and women, male and female, to deliver His Word. I had my first encounter where I was told I couldn't sit in the pulpit because "I'm working on them..." I believe I have became more aggressive about ministry because of that. I don't have anything to prove to anyone personally, but they will know that God can do a work through anyone, and it's so important that I see lives change through the ministry He's given me.

~ Please share anything else you'd want our readers to know.

Diligence does not go unrewarded. If anyone looks at what another has in abundance and thinks that it didn't cost them anything, they couldn't be more wrong! Count up the cost before you want to water the grass across the street because it looks greener. What God gives anyone does come with a price and how much that is, we don't know looking on the outside. Be faithful over a little and He will bless you with much. Stay focused on God and obedient to His Word - delight yourself in Him and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Remember, sisters, we can’t sit back saying "I’ve got to pray about it." After prayer, you need to acknowledge God’s command by taking action, again, leaning not to your own understanding, trusting God to direct your paths to destiny. Sometimes we sit back, sisters, and wait on God like He’s a magician to just magically make the oil appear in our lamps. If He has given you dreams of starting a business, the oil won’t magically appear in your lamp. If He has given you dreams of starting a CD project, the oil won’t magically appear in your lamp. If He has told you He is preparing you to be a wife, the oil won’t magically appear in your lamp. If He has promised you that you will birth children when the doctors have said no, the oil won’t magically appear in your lamp. If He has promised you that He will heal your marriage, the oil won’t magically appear in your lamp. Single sisters, check your oil! If your finances are in disarray, work to become a better steward. If your credit rating has taken a plunge, work to restore it. If your children are undisciplined, work with them to bring order to your house. If you’re still giving your body to several brothers, become celibate.

Store the oil for your lamp of dreams, visions and promises, so that when destiny comes you are ready.

Where am I, I don’t see any familiar streets
Have I taken a wrong turn?
I thought this road would set me free
Free to embrace the birth of my new baby
But I’m stuck on the side of road, with nowhere to go – just maybe
I need to pray, for only God knows
In what direction I should proceed to go
I don’t understand, but there’s a vision I see
A blessing from the Lord, just for me!

When you are tossed and perplexed with doubts concerning where you are you must take painstaking steps to furnish yourselves and be constant in prayer with considerations proper to clear the matter. You must stand upon your watch against temptation to go back to your old ways of handling circumstances and situations. Old things are passed away and behold all things are become new. You must realize that even as you enter the road to destiny there is a continuous growth and maturing taking place. You must not give way to your doubts.Stop! Don’t move! Don’t tell your remaining friends! Don’t call your old Waiting to Exhale sisters! Go into PMS mode! Quickly, go to the Word – Pray, Meditate and Study! See what the Lord has to say and allow Him to minister to you through the Word. By this time, if you were in the Hateraide [jealous, envious] crowd, you have made it through the DT stage of Hateraide recovery and the milk of the Word will be your sincere desire.You have prepared for the birth. You are storing your oil. Yes, sisters, you are on the right road!

Now, you must write the vision!
